The delicacy that broke the internet, Githeri Rasta, will be served free of charge to at least 500 Kenyatta University students and other customers at various eateries in KM on Monday, 8 April 2024.
Students and residents of KM, a student market centre adjacent to Kenyatta University main campus, will also be treated to another artistic delicacy called Indowrap.
The eateries that will be offering the servings are Lakers Dishes, Lakers Junior, Leaders Hotel, La Joam and Hashtag (#tag).
This comes after Githeri Rasta caught the attention of netizens, with many university students admitting that it is a mouthwatering delicacy.
It is one of the most creative dishes that is enjoyed by the young people in the universities.
The meal is made using the usual githeri (rice and beans) and lip-smacking indomie noodles.
The creative food culture of Kenyatta University students had previously made headlines after a picture of the menu showing their ugali pambana dish surfaced.
Lenson Munene, the manager of Dha Lakers Dishes, amused Kenyans when he went viral with a picture of him gluing a menu showing Githeri Rasta, which retails at Ksh 80.
“The best noodles to make githeri rasta and indowrap are Indomie noodles,” he told KUTV Digital.
Students are expected to throng the mentioned hotels out of curiosity and also to enjoy the free meals.
Ideally, these noodles can be combined with a variety of meals including cereal foods hence maharagwe indo chafua and ndengu indo chafua.
“Those interested in feasting will have to come early as we will serve on a first come, first served basis,” Munene affirmed, explaining that the offer will be valid between mid-morning and afternoon.
