In a continued dialogue and structured conversations discussing the rights and welfare of the Kenyan Diaspora, the Principal Secretary of the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, Ms. Roseline K. Njogu, CBS, conducted a Diaspora engagement with Kenyans in Nebraska.
In her remarks at the event held in Lincoln City, PS Roseline Njogu, unpacked the mandate of Diaspora Kenya, its vision and mission to protect, engage, empower and prosper the Kenyan Diaspora.
While highlighting some of the successes of the State Department of Diaspora Affairs (SDDA) since its inception, the PS emphasized on Diaspora Welfare being at the core of SDDA’s mandate and activities.
She also encouraged them to invest in Kenya, transfer their knowledge, skills and expertise, and support the Government in looking for job opportunities for Kenyans and open trade routes for Kenyan products.
Among the issues raised in the event touched on: Dual Citizenship, Investments, Democratic rights, Taxes, e-citizen, Diaspora banking, Job creation for Kenyans back home, Visa issues and Flight prices.
A section of the Diaspora present during the engagement pledged to support the Government through Diaspora Kenya to source for more opportunities in major economic sectors of Nebraska.
Principal Secretary, Ms. Roseline K. Njogu, said Diaspora Kenya is intentional in protecting, engaging, empowering and prospering the Diaspora.
In a speech delivered on her behalf in Rome, Italy, by Ambassador Anne Wanjohi, Director-Liaison and Partnerships Division, the PS stated that through targeted initiatives and purposeful programs, the Government is committed in bringing the Diaspora to the center of Kenya’s national development.
The PS also reiterated for unity of purpose among Kenyans living abroad.
