The county government of Machakos has offered its support to the woman, Jackylyne Mwende, who had been beaten and her hands chopped by the husband.
Her husband had alleged that his wife was infertile, and could not bear him children, a thought that led to chopping her hands off.
Machakos leaders in Machakos County visited her at Kathama in her village to offer their support.
Following the incident, women called upon the government to ensure that the person does not go scot-free. They want serious action taken against him as a warning to other people with such ill-motives.
Rose Mutheu, as she called upon the Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko to ensure the case is taken seriously, requested that the culprit to face law effectively with no bond nor cash bail
Their cry was echoed by several prominent people among them, Machakos First Lady, Machakos Women representative, FIDA Chairperson (who has promised to take the case to ensure justice is served) who condemned the act.
Cases of domestic cases have been rampant and increasing with a report from Nairobi National Hospital indicating that 3363 cases of the same have been reported in their hospital.
From the figure, 54 percent of the affect are women, 35 percent girls and of course the remaining percentage (11 percent) reported to be men.
