The Ministry of Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu, has announced that the application portal for scholarships and loans to Universities and TVET institutions, under the Student-Centred Funding Model, will be opened on June 18th, 2024.
This according to the ministry, is for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) cohort.
The Education CS stated that the portal was meant to be opened on Saturday, June 15th 2024 however in light of the government declaring Monday, June 17th, 2024 a public holiday to mark Eid Al-Adha on June 14th, 2024, the Ministry decided to move the portal opening date to Tuesday, June 18th, 2024.
“On June 7th, 2024, the Ministry of Education announced that the application portal for scholarships and loans to Universities and TVET institutions, under the Student-Centred Funding Model, for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) cohort would be opened on June 15th, 2024,” read Machogu’s statement in part.
Additionally, the CS explained that the postponement would allow Kenyans to prepare and celebrate Eid Al-Adha.
“Consequently, in solidarity with our Muslim fraternity, the Ministry of Education decided to move the portal opening date from Saturday, June 15th, 2024 to Tuesday, June 18th, 2024 to allow Kenyans ample time to prepare and celebrate Eid Al-Adha,” wrote CS Machogu.
The Ministry of Education further assured parents, guardians and students that the Government would provide sufficient time for all eligible learners to apply for funding in the form of scholarships and loans.
No one would be shunned from applying for the funding model.
