Manhunt Underway, Police Recover Cannabis Worth Sh4.6 Million

In a significant breakthrough, detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) stationed at Malindi Police Station have launched a rigorous manhunt for notorious drug traffickers who narrowly escaped capture, abandoning a substantial haul of cannabis valued at over Sh4.6 million.

Acting on a tip-off from vigilant members of the public, ANU officers intercepted a black Subaru Exiga, registration number KCF 259K, along the Kilifi-Malindi road in the Mtondia area.

According to the detectives the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene disappearing into a nearby thicker.

“Acting on a tip-off from vigilant members of the public, officers intercepted a black Subaru Exiga Reg. No. KCF 259K along the Kilifi-Malindi road in Mtondia area. When signalled to stop, the occupants bolted from the vehicle like bats out of hell, vanishing into a nearby thicket,” the detectives explained.

A subsequent search of the abandoned vehicle revealed seven sacks of cannabis, weighing a total of 155 kilograms, with an estimated street value of Sh4,650,000.

“Upon searching the abandoned vehicle, officers discovered seven sacks of bhang weighing 155 kilograms, with an estimated street value of Sh4,650,000,” the DCI stated.

The recovered narcotics, along with the vehicle, were transported to Malindi Police Station for safekeeping as evidence.

The DCI emphasized that efforts will continue unabated to bring the elusive traffickers to justice, assuring the public that it is only a matter of time before these criminals are apprehended.

“Meanwhile, the hunt for the elusive traffickers is ongoing, and authorities are confident that it’s only a matter of time before they are found and brought to justice,”  DCI said.

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has affirmed the ongoing commitment to eradicating the sale, distribution, and consumption of narcotic drugs.
