All leaders from North Eastern Kenya met with President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi on 22nd August 2024 to lobby for development in their region.
They met the President in Unity despite their political differences to accelerate development projects in the North Eastern part of Kenya.
President William Ruto said that he was encouraged by the resolve of leaders from North Eastern Kenya to work together irrespective of their political affiliation to develop the region.
“We are implementing programmes that will address socio-economic and developmental challenges in the region to ensure we unlock its economic potential,” President Ruto said on X.
“At State House Nairobi, held talks with leaders from Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera Counties, we agreed to fast-track the implementation of programmes and infrastructure including roads and water, education, health, agriculture, and enhancing security in the region,” President Ruto added.
The Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry Hon. Aden Duale led the team from the larger Northern Frontier to meet the President.
According to CS Aden Duale, the leaders and the head of state agreed to work together at both levels of government to develop the region.
“Assessing the region’s development strides, we committed to working with the national and county governments in accelerating infrastructure development, focusing on roads, water, education, health, agriculture, and security,” CS Aden Duale said on X.
During the meeting, the President further pledged his support in advancing these backwater areas.
