Kenyatta University Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Waceke Wanjohi has pointed out need for each student to identify their ambitions and develop clear, detailed plans to achieve them throughout their academic journey.
Addressing the newly 2024/2025 academic year matriculated students, Prof. Wanjohi emphasized the underscored the importance of goal-setting and strategic planning for the incoming class of students.
“Put down your goals which define your destiny, draw very clear strategies on how to get there, do have smart objectives and with the support of the faculty, staff University, different organization structure you will be able to get to your goal.
Prof. Wanjohi encouraged students to make the most of the opportunities and resources available at Kenyatta University, highlighting the role of the university’s dedicated faculty and staff in supporting their academic and personal growth.
“Your time at Kenyatta University is a unique opportunity to lay a strong foundation for your future,” she said. “Set clear goals, draw up plans, and work diligently towards realizing your ambitions. Remember, success is a journey, not a destination.”
She further stressed the importance of aligning personal goals with the university’s values of excellence, integrity, and innovation.
She urged students to take advantage of the diverse programs, extracurricular activities, and research opportunities offered by the institution, encouraging them to step out of their comfort zones and explore new areas of knowledge and experience.
“I would like to encourage to make the best use of these privilege and many opportunities that are provided throughout and endeavor to explore and exploit your potential. Taking full advantage of all the resources at your disposal such as postmodern library the conducive learning environment, recreation activities, highly qualified and experienced faculty and international programs among others ,” said Ag. Prof. Wanjohi.

“I strongly urge through you all those who have not applied for government scholarships or sponsorship to ensure that you are properly categorized within the five bands please do so and reach out to those who have been admitted and probably have not applied,” added Ag.VC Prof.Wanjohi.
The matriculation ceremony marks the beginning of a new academic year at Kenyatta University, welcoming students from diverse backgrounds to join a vibrant community of scholars, researchers, and leaders.
