Kenya’s Leadership Unites In Grief Following Hillside Endarasha Academy Fire Tragedy

Kenya is grieving a significant loss after a fire engulfed the dormitory of Kieni Hillside Academy in Nyeri County last night at around 11pm.

Different ministries have condoled with the families and the entire Endashara fraternity.

The Ministry of Health led by Health Cabinet Secretary through a letter to Hillside fraternity noted its regret for the sudden loss of lives.

“The Ministry of Health is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of young lives at Hillside Endarasha Academy, Kieni West Sub-County, Nyeri County.This heartbreaking event has left a void that words alone cannot fill,” stated Dr. Barasa.

“On my behalf and that of the Ministry of Health, allow me at this earliest time to convey our heartfelt condolences during this incredibly difficult time. You are in our thoughts and prayers as you navigate this period of grief and loss,” she added.

The Ministry of Interior and National Administration under the leadership of Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, shared a message of hope to the victims and the school community.

“During this painful and numbing tragedy, the Government extends deep sympathies to the affected families, school fraternity, and surrounding community,” stated Prof. Kindiki.

Kipchumba Murkomen, the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, joined his colleagues and in condoling with the victims.

“I am deeply saddened by the devastating news this morning of a fire incident at Hillside Endarasha Academy in Kieni, which has claimed the lives of at least 16 pupils.My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to the families, friends, and the entire school community affected by this terrible loss. I stand with all those affected by this tragedy and wish the survivors a quick recovery,” noted CS Murkomen.

In response to President William Ruto’s directive earlier today, all concerned government agencies were deployed to provide all possible support and assistance to the grieving families as they mourn and identify the cause of the fire that resulted in the loss of so many young lives and injuries.
