The Ministry of Health, through its State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships in the fight against Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), Malaria, and Tuberculosis (TB).
In a meeting held today between Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards,Ms. Mary Muthoni, and Amref Health Africa, led by Country Director Dr. Meshack Ndirangu.centered on enhancing collaboration between the Ministry of Health and Amref to improve public health outcomes, focusing particularly on NTDs, Malaria, and TB.
This partnership aims to build on the successes achieved so far while developing new strategies for more effective disease prevention, control, and treatment.
The discussion provided a comprehensive review of the ongoing joint initiatives and their impact on reducing the burden of NTDs, Malaria, and TB in Kenya. Both parties assessed progress and identified areas needing additional focus.
“The meeting focused on enhancing collaboration in combating Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), Malaria, Tuberculosis (TB), and improving public health sanitation.During the session, progress on current initiatives was reviewed, and strategies to strengthen future cooperation were discussed,” noted MOH.
The Ministry of Health and Amref Health Africa emphasized the importance of sustainable partnerships and outlined strategies to enhance collaboration.
According to the ministry, the partnership will focus on community engagement, education, and promoting better hygiene practices as part of a broader public health strategy.
“This partnership aims to reinforce disease prevention and control measures, along with promoting better sanitation practices,” stated the ministry.
The Ministry of Health and Amref Health Africa plan to roll out a series of joint initiatives and campaigns aimed at increasing awareness, improving access to healthcare services, and enhancing disease surveillance and response mechanisms.
The Ministry called all stakeholders, development partners, and the public to support and participate in these vital health programs, ensuring a sustainable and impactful fight against NTDs, Malaria, and TB.
