Kenya and France have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening agricultural cooperation, focusing on enhancing food security, promoting sustainable agriculture, and fostering technological exchange.
In a meeting held on 19th September 2024, His Excellency Arnaud Suquet, the French Ambassador to Kenya, paid a courtesy call, during which discussions centered on expanding collaboration in various agricultural sectors.
The meeting highlighted several key areas of cooperation, including livestock production, genetic resource improvement, and the adoption of agroecology and innovative farming techniques.
Both parties acknowledged the importance of these initiatives in addressing pressing agricultural challenges and advancing sustainable development.
This partnership aims to boost productivity and resilience in the livestock sector, which is crucial for food security and rural livelihoods in Kenya.
According to Dr. Adrew Karanja Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Developmen,the discussions also emphasized the need to promote agroecology,a sustainable farming approach that integrates ecological principles into agricultural practices.
“The French Ambassador to Kenya,paid a courtesy call, during which we discussed enhancing livestock production, improving genetic resources, and promoting agroecology and innovative farming techniques,” stated Dr. karanja.
Both Kenya and France committed to exploring further opportunities for collaboration, including research and development, capacity building, and the exchange of technological innovations.
This enhanced partnership is expected to yield mutual benefits, not only by addressing current agricultural challenges but also by laying a strong foundation for future growth and development in the sector.
The meeting concluded with a shared vision of expanding agricultural cooperation to foster sustainable development and improve the livelihoods of farmers in both countries.
