Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested five suspects linked to the gruesome murder of Richard Haga Otieno, which occurred on the night of January 18, 2025.

Among those apprehended are prime suspects Geoffrey Mavado, John Ndegwa, and Jorim Ngonga Sura, who are believed to have played a direct role in the brutal killing.

Additionally, bodaboda operators Clinton Simantu, also known as Muiruri, and Peter Mwaniki, alias Pinchez, have been identified as the individuals responsible for transporting the hitmen to and from the crime scene.

Investigations have revealed that Geoffrey Mavado and John Ndegwa had a history of violence against the deceased.

“The suspects are prime suspects Geoffrey Mavado, John Ndegwa and Jorim Ngonga Sura, believed to have been directly involved in the brutal killing. The other two; Clinton Simantu alias Muiruri and Peter Mwaniki alias Pinchez are bodaboda operators who have been identified as the persons who ferried the hitmen to and from the scene of crime,” noted the DCI.

The duo had been arrested and charged on November 8, 2024, for assaulting Richard Otieno. They were sentenced to a one-year probation.

However, forensic analysis has now placed them at the scene of Otieno’s murder, strengthening the case against them.

All five suspects are currently in custody as they undergo processing for arraignment. Meanwhile, detectives from the Homicide Directorate, the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, and the Operations Unit continue to investigate the case, ensuring that any additional perpetrators are brought to justice.
