Clinical Officer Charged with Raping Dialysis Patient in Mombasa

A 31-year-old clinical officer was arraigned in a Mombasa court on 3rd February, 2025 for allegedly raping a dialysis patient at a private hospital.

Dias Juma Wabwile, the accused, is said to have committed the act on January 31, 2025, at around 5:00 AM at Pandya Hospital in Mombasa.

The prosecution, led by Prosecuting Counsel Martin Mbote, informed the court that Wabwile intentionally and unlawfully raped the patient while under his care.

In addition to the primary charge of rape, Wabwile faced an alternative charge of committing an indecent act on the patient, contrary to Section 11(A) of the Sexual Offences Act, 2007.

“Prosecuting Counsel Martin Mbote told the court that Dias Juma Wabwile intentionally and unlawfully raped the patient on 31st January 2025 at around 0500 hours at Pandya Hospital in Mombasa.He was also charged with an alternative charge of an indecent act on the patient contrary to Section II (A) of the Sexual Offences Act, 2007,” noted the ODPP.

Appearing before Mombasa Chief Magistrate Alex Ithuku, the accused pleaded not guilty to both charges.

However,the court granted him release on a bond of Ksh. 500,000 with one surety of a similar amount.

“He pleaded not guilty to charges before Mombasa Chief Magistrate Alex Ithuku and was released on a bond of Ksh.500,000 with one surety of a similar amount,” stated the ODPP.

The case is scheduled for mention on February 17, 2025.
