Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Nairobi Region have apprehended three suspects linked to a series of high-profile warehouse break-ins and thefts across Nairobi and its environs.
The arrests follow a major investigation into a February 3, 2025, burglary at a warehouse in the Industrial Area, where goods valued at Sh23.8 million were stolen.
Acting on forensic evidence and intelligence, detectives tracked down Francis Kinyua Nyaguthi and Benson Murigi Mbugu, arresting them in the Njiru and Komarock areas.
“In one notable incident, the suspects broke into a warehouse and made off with goods worth Sh23.8 million,” the DCI reported.
Upon questioning, the two suspects led investigators to a storage facility in Ruiru, where officers recovered 80 Samsung 43-inch television sets.
Additional searches at Murigi’s residence uncovered another television set, while follow-up operations in Kariobangi and Gikomba resulted in the seizure of two more televisions and ten rolls of seat upholstery material.
“There, investigators recovered 80 Samsung 43-inch television sets. The suspects further directed the officers to Benson Murigi’s residence, where an additional television set was seized. They also guided officers to Kariobangi and Gikomba, where two more televisions and ten rolls of seat upholstery material were confiscated,” the DCI explained.
According to the detectives, the investigation widened on February 13, 2025, with the arrest of the third suspect, Solomon Were Thea.
A search of his residence uncovered ten solar panels, and he further assisted authorities in locating a lorry (registration number KAU 424J) in the Industrial Area, loaded with 233 rolls of seat upholstery material, suspected to be part of the stolen loot.
All three suspects are currently in police custody as authorities finalize investigations before presenting them in court.
The recovered items are being held as exhibits as detectives continue to pursue any remaining links to the warehouse heist.
