President Ruto has instituted further changes to the senior ranks of the Executive within Cabinet.
“By virtue of the Presidential Action, Cabinet is set to achieve its constitutional full strength; a move that bolsters the Administration’s capacity to continue to steer Kenya’s socio-economic transformation,” read the statement in part from the Head of the Public Service, Felix Koskei.
In the statement, Goeffrey K. Kiring a Ruku has been nominated to head the Ministry of Public Service, Human Capital Development & Special Programmes.
Ruku, currently the Mbeere Member of Parliament, will take over from Justin Muturi, who has since been sacked.
The President had recently stated that he had a problem with him as the Attorney General, terming him as fairly incompetent.
“I had a problem with the AG who was there before—he was fairly incompetent. But now, I have a very competent lady in the position, and I can assure you that the issues of Wakf will be sorted out within months,” President Ruto stated.
Justin Muturi took to social media to reply to the President’s remarks.
“It must be understood that a Waqf is a religious, charitable or benevolent endowment by a person who professes Muslim faith and is managed by the Waqf Commission,” Muturi said via his X account.
Additionally, Hanna Wendot Cheptumo has been nominated to head the Ministry of Gender, Culture, The Arts & Heritage.
“The two nominees are expected to bring to Cabinet not only the knowledge and experience acquired over the course of their illustrious careers but, above all, their wisdom accumulated from their inspiring and diverse life journeys,” stated Felix.
President Ruto has also reassigned Hon. Aden Bare Duale to head the Ministry of Health while Dr. Deborah Mlongo Barasa, the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change & Forestry.
The two cabinet secretaries have been swapped.
“His Excellency the President has congratulated the Nominees on their nominations and conveyed his best wishes as they undergo the requisite parliamentary approval process in fulfillment of the legal requirements set under our Constitution,” added the Head of the public service.
