The former Speaker of the Kisii County Assembly, David Ondimu Kombo, was on Tuesday 9th April 2025, arraigned before the Kisii Anti-Corruption Court to face charges of abuse of office.
Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Hon. Joshua Nyariki, Kombo was accused of irregularly facilitating the appointment of one Everline Moraa Maraburi to the position of Clerical Officer at the County Assembly of Kisii without the approval of the County Assembly Board or adherence to due recruitment procedures.
According to the prosecution led by State Counsel Job Okelo, the alleged offence was committed on or about October 24, 2017, at the County Assembly premises.
The charge sheet states that Kombo acted jointly with the Deputy Clerk of the County Assembly, Daniel Mbaka Omwoyo, who had earlier been charged with a similar offence related to the same appointment
“Prosecution led by Job Okelo told court Ondimu committed the offence on or about 24th October 2017 at the County Assembly of Kisii within Kisii County,” stated the ODPP.
Ondimu pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted a cash bail of Ksh.50,000, with an alternative bond of Ksh.100,000.
The matter for mention on April 14, 2025, with the intention of consolidating the case with that of Deputy Clerk Omwoyo, as both face charges stemming from the same incident.
