Two men masquerading as glamorous female masseuses have been apprehended by detectives from the Kasarani Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), following a daring con that targeted unsuspecting clients seeking relaxation but ended in terror.
The suspects, identified as Alex Mugo Wachira and Simon Chomba Mbogo, are accused of orchestrating a sophisticated online scam, where they posed as attractive women offering premium massage services.
Their alluring advertisements complete with edited photos and promises of soothing therapy successfully lured victims to their alleged spa along Lumumba Drive.
“The suspects, Alex Mugo Wachira and Simon Chomba Mbogo, have been luring unsuspecting clients by advertising “professional massage services” online. But instead of a relaxing massage, victims are met with a not-so-soothing surprise,” stated the DCI.
In one incident, a male client reported being ambushed mid-massage.
As oils and expectations faded, the fake masseuses brandished knives, demanded his cooperation and forced him to transfer Sh280,000 to a mobile number controlled by the duo.
“Enticed by what seemed to be two attractive women offering top-tier massage sessions, he made his way to their supposed spa residence along Lumumba Drive, Kasarani,” stated the detectives.
“However, moments into the “massage,” things took a sharp turn. The two whipped out knives, revealing their true identities and zero massage knowledge. Under duress, the victim was forced to transfer Sh280,000 to the suspects’ phone number, robbed of his valuables before being unceremoniously thrown out,” added the detectives.
He was then stripped of personal belongings and kicked out of the premises.
The victim, shaken but determined, reported the incident at Kasarani Police Station, prompting detectives to launch an intensive investigation.
Forensic digital tracking quickly led officers to a chilling spot in the Kamiti prison area, where the two suspects were found enjoying a good time allegedly funded by their criminal exploits.
The suspects are now in police custody and are expected to be arraigned once processing is complete.
