Airtel Kenya has launched the first AI-powered spam alert service in Africa to detect fraudulent messages.
This innovative move is to shield unsuspecting mobile consumers from spam and fraudulent messages.
Airtel Kenya’s AI-powered Spam Alert Service is designed to detect and flag suspicious SMS messages in real-time, providing users with instant warnings about potential scams.
“We are pleased to announce the launch of our AI-powered Spam Alert Service. This unprecedented service will offer Airtel customers real-time alerts for suspected spam SMS messages and requires no additional application downloads,” stated Airtel Kenya.
The service is not only free but also available to both smartphone and feature phone users, ensuring inclusive protection across all devices.
Subscribers can report fraud attempts by dialing USSD code *100# and selecting option 3 which is, report fraud.
Present at the launch event in Nairobi, Airtel Kenya Managing Director Ashish Malhotra emphasized the importance of the new service in safeguarding digital communication.
The launch event was attended by Cabinet Secretary for ICT, William Kabogo, who applouded Airtel Kenya’s initiative.
“We need the private sector to be proactive in embedding consumer protection within product design. Airtel’s AI-powered spam alert service is a major step in ensuring digital security for Kenyan mobile users,” stated CS Kabogo.
With Kenya leading the way, the fight against spam and fraudulent messages is gaining momentum, promising a more secure mobile experience for users across the continent.
