UDA Expels Sen. Gloria Orwoba Following Disciplinary Action

By Alice Njeri

United Democratic Alliance(UDA) Party expelled Senator Gloria Orwoba from holding any membership rights. This came after the party’s disciplinary committee held deliberations, pursuing article 29 of the UDA party constitution.

The National Executive Committee(NEC) of the party adopted and ratified the Disciplinary Committee’s decision in a meeting held on the 19th of May 2025. As a result, the Senator ceased to be a member of the UDA party.

Senator Gloria Orwoba served as a nominated senator representing women in the Kenyan Senate under the UDA from 2022. Her nomination was part of UDA’s commitment to gender representation in Parliament.

“Consequently, she no longer enjoys any privileges accorded to party members nor is she authorized to represent or act on behalf of the Party in any capacity,” stated UDA via X.

The Party has informed the Registrar of political Parties (RPP), the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), and has written a formal letter to the speaker of the Senate to initiate the process of her removal from the Senate.

“The Party has nominated Mrs Consolata Wabwire Wakwabubi from Kimilili Constituency, Bungoma County to fill the resulting vacancy,” UDA added.

The Party insisted that while it upholds the values of freedom of expression and association enshrined in the constitution of Kenya 2010, fidelity and loyalty to party ideals are fundamental to its constitution as it consolidates multiparty politics by strengthening political parties.

“Hon. Gloria Orwoba cannot therefore continue to play for two political teams simultaneously,” concluded the party.
