Speaker Wetangula expresses his delight at being able to participate in this 2nd Brazil-Africa Dialogue that aims to deliberate on issues relating to Food Security, the Fight Against Hunger and Rural Development.
Together, these issues influence the global efforts to create resilient food systems, support economic stability, and promote sustainable development.
“As you are aware, our food systems are facing immense challenges, from climate change and biodiversity loss to economic shocks and political instability, the world witnessing unpresidented disruptions,” noted Speaker Wetangula.
As the global populations continue to rise, the demand for healthy, accessible, and sustainable diets is increasing. The pressure demands urgent, evidence -based solutions that are inclusive and resilient.
This dialogue therefore offers an opportunity to deliberate on how best these challenges can be addressed and move towards more sustainable food systems.
As part of the participation in the Second Brazil–Africa Dialogue on Food Security, Speaker Wetangula had the opportunity to visit model farms and interact with innovative farmers who were working collaboratively to tackle the ongoing food crisis.
This engagement underscores the importance of South–South cooperation, promoting a horizontal exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices among developing countries. The objective is to learn from Brazil’s success stories; solutions that have been designed, tested, and proven effective in addressing similar socio-economic and developmental challenges.
