Four Armed Robbery Suspects Arrested, Firearms Siezed

Four suspects linked to a series of armed robberies in Nairobi and Western Kenya were arrested on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

In a coordinated security operation the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) seized three firearms and fifty rounds of ammunition.

Led by DCI’s Operation Action Team and supported by the Intelligence Bureau, the manhunt targeted an organized gang responsible for a series of violent robberies.

DCI’s Crime Research detectives analyzed the gang’s methods of operations, enabling the targeted manhunt.

The apprehended suspects were identified as Sipholi Sam Wafula alias Sande, Ogomba Alex, Mohammed Musa, all Ugandan nationals, and Wafula Clinton, a Kenyan and alleged gang leader.

Sipholi was the first to be arrested, leading officers to his rented house in Saika, where a Falcon pistol loaded with eleven rounds of ammunition was found hidden under a pillow.

Ogomba Alex was apprehended next in Dandora, where an AK-47 rifle with thirty rounds was discovered hidden under his couch.

Mohammed Musa, identified as the owner of the AK-47, was arrested in Huruma, where he resided with his family.

Wafula Clinton, a resident of Githurai 45, was arrested in Pumwani.

He had a Palleberum Feg .9mm pistol loaded with 9 rounds found tucked in his waist.

“He has been the master planner in all the gangs’ operations,” DCI stated.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the Ugandan trio had crossed into Kenya via the Malaba border on May 21, 2025, having disappeared from the country after committing a violent robbery in Eastleigh.

They had previously fled to Uganda to evade capture, a tactic the DCI say was used to cover their criminal tracks.

“That has been the cat and mouse game in their bid to cover their criminal tracks,” DCI stated.

The arrests disrupted a planned attack in 12th Street Eastleigh.

The four suspects have been handed over to DCI Starehe for processing, with an identification parade scheduled for Friday, May 23, ahead of their arraignment.

Other accomplices involved in the planned robbery have been identified and are currently being pursued by authorities.
