Matiang’i wants tutors who incite students to be fired

Education CS Fred Matiang’i has urged TSC to sack teachers inciting students in the second term to burn schools.

Matiang’i has said his ministry is documenting all arson cases to address the problem and avoid them in future. “Any teacher inciting students to violence should never be allowed to teach anywhere,” Matiang’i said. He said students implicated in arson will not be transferred to another school.

The CS said,“Such a student must remain and rebuild the schools they destroyed.” Matiang’i said the government will set up the Kenya School of Education to train principals in effective school management.

He said the curriculum reform initiative the government was undertaking will be competence based, designed to develop specific skills in the learners.
