President William Ruto hosted the Council of Governors at State House for crucial deliberations aimed at fast-tracking joint development projects across the nation, with a strong focus on digital transformation in public health and comprehensive reforms in the agricultural sector.
In a significant move towards greater efficiency and transparency in healthcare, both the President and the Governors voiced full support for the ambitious digitisation programme of public health facilities.
“We fully support the digitisation of our public health facilities to eliminate fraudulent claims and improve efficiency in service delivery,” said Waiguru.
President Ruto further elaborated on this initiative, emphasizing that the programme is designed “to weed out fake hospitals that have for long unfairly benefitted from public funds.”
The discussions also honed in on critical agricultural reforms, which were lauded as a “game-changer for farmers.” Key interventions proposed include enhancing livestock traceability through the registration of farmers, and expanding the successful e-voucher system previously used for subsidised fertiliser to animal vaccinations.
The leaders agreed to leverage Kenya’s robust cooperative ecosystem to unlock the full potential of the agriculture sector. This strategy is expected to increase productivity, improve prices, and put more money in farmers’ pockets.
The Council of Governors affirmed their central role in actualising these programmes on the ground, stating their eagerness to ensure the initiatives translate into real value for our farmers and communities.
