The Rongo Magistrate Court has issued a warrant of arrest against two directors of St. Joseph Mission of Messiah in Africa Limited Church, as well as two other individuals, after they failed to attend court today.
Principal Magistrate Susan Mutava issued the warrant of arrest for the suspects: Michael Kus Onyango, Luka Ochieng, Everline Gemamo and Lilian Atieno Olal, following their failure to appear in court.
Earlier, the court had ordered that the suspects be remanded at Kamagambo Police Station for 21 days while police investigate the mysterious death and burial of a GSU officer at St. Joseph Mission of Messiah in Africa Limited Church in Rongo, and to confirm compliance with the Public Health Act.
The suspects later challenged the magistrate’s orders by moving to the Migori High Court.
“Prosecuting Counsel Ms. Juliet Ombogo applied for the warrant of arrest, which was issued. The case is set to be mentioned on 3rd July 2025, stated the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
Additionally, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has filed a separate application seeking permission to exhume the body of a GSU officer who was buried on March 28, 2025, within the church compound in Rongo Sub-County, Migori County.
It is alleged that the officer, Police Constable Adan Ayoo, died under unclear circumstances on March 27, 2025, and was buried without the knowledge or consent of his parents or employer.
“The ODPP is seeking exhumation to determine the cause of death through a postmortem at Migori County Referral Hospital,” stated the ODPP.
