Police officers from the Nairobi Area have arrested three suspects and recovered dozens of stolen electronic devices during a targeted operation in the heart of the capital city.
The intelligence-led operation, conducted along Tsavo Street in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD), resulted in the seizure of 75 mobile phones, seven computers, one microscope, and twenty Universal Flashing Interface (UFI) gadgets tools commonly used in reprogramming or “flashing” stolen phones.
According to the reports, the suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
“During the operation, three suspects were arrested, and 75 mobile phones, seven computers, one microscope, and twenty Universal Flashing Interface (UFI) gadgets were recovered,” stated NPS.
Authorities have confirmed that the individuals will be arraigned in court upon the completion of investigations.
“The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue, pending arraignment in court,” noted NPS.
The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a stern warning to members of the public against participating in mobile phone theft syndicates and the illegal trade of flashing and reselling stolen devices.
The NPS is also urging citizens to refrain from purchasing electronic devices from unauthorized or unverified dealers, emphasizing that doing so not only fuels criminal activity but may also result in criminal liability.
The crackdown underscores the NPS’s broader strategy to ensure safety and security within the Nairobi region and protect consumers from falling prey to counterfeit and stolen technology.
