KU Students Selected for Youth Energy Summit 2025 in South Africa

Kenyatta University continues to make strides in nurturing globally competitive graduates, with two of its students set to participate in the prestigious Youth Energy Summit (YES) 2025 in Cape Town, South Africa, from 18th to 20th June.

The University proudly announces that Sheila Mwambui, a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) student, and Kennedy Ouma, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, have been selected and fully sponsored by EnergyNet to represent the institution at the summit.

“Kenyatta University is proud to announce that two of our outstanding students have been selected and fully sponsored by Energy Net to represent KU at the Youth Energy Summit (YES) 2025, happening from 18th to 20th June in Cape Town, South Africa,” stated KU.

The Youth Energy Summit brings together aspiring young leaders, innovators, and professionals to interact with global stakeholders in the energy sector, promoting knowledge exchange and sustainable development.

According to the institution,this follows KU’s strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Energy Net, anchored within the Department of Business Administration.

Through such collaborations, the University ensures its students benefit from international exposure and industry-relevant experiences.

Ahead of their departure, the students were warmly received and encouraged by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Paul Wainaina, during a courtesy call at the university.

Prof. Wainaina commended the students for their ambition and excellence, urging them to seize the moment,and explore ideas that can influence the local energy landscape.

“We celebrate our student delegates Sheila Mwambui (BCom) and Kennedy Ouma (BSc. Electrical Engineering) as they prepare to connect with global energy leaders and bring back valuable insights,” stated Prof.Wainana.

Present at the send-off were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Waceke Wanjohi, faculty from the School of Business and Economics, and members of the University Management.
