The Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (EAPCCO) has convened a high-level Regional Workshop for Heads of Crime Intelligence Units, aiming to fortify cross-border cooperation in the fight against terrorism and transnational organized crime.

The event, officially opened by Kenya’s Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mr. Mohamed I. Amin, is being held at the Holiday Inn, Two Rivers, Nairobi.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Amin emphasized the critical importance of intelligence sharing and regional collaboration to effectively counter emerging and complex security threats across Eastern Africa.

The two-day workshop brings together crime intelligence leaders from EAPCCO member states, along with strategic partners from INTERPOL and the EAPCCO Secretariat.

Discussions are centred on enhancing operational strategies, harmonizing intelligence frameworks, and fostering joint initiatives to disrupt cross-border criminal networks.

“This gathering provides a platform for us to align our priorities, share actionable intelligence, and develop unified responses to threats that know no borders,” said Mr. Amin.

Supported by INTERPOL, the workshop is seen as a vital step in reinforcing regional law enforcement capacities.

It underscores the need for a united front in safeguarding regional peace and security amidst a rapidly evolving threat landscape.

By the close of the workshop, participants are expected to adopt joint resolutions that will steer future intelligence operations and promote sustained collaboration among member countries.
