President William Ruto attended the 10th Annual Dairy Farmers Field Day at the Meru ASK Showground, where he is engaged with dairy farmers, agricultural experts, cooperatives and key stakeholders in a major push to transform Kenya’s dairy sector.
The high-profile event, which has drawn large crowds from across the country, focused on enhancing milk production, promoting innovation and encouraging agribusiness among youth.
The President, who arrived at the venue accompanied by senior government officials and local leaders, is touring exhibitions and holding discussions with farmers on the challenges and opportunities within the dairy value chain.
He is also taking part in live demonstrations of modern farming techniques and livestock innovations.
In his ongoing address to participants, President Ruto is emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting farmers with infrastructure, affordable credit, quality inputs, and access to reliable markets.
“Our goal is to make dairy farming profitable, sustainable and attractive, especially for our youth,” he said.
This year’s Field Day is centered on modern technologies in animal nutrition, climate-smart dairy practices, and digital tools for farm management.
Farmers are receiving on-the-spot training on automated milking systems, improved breeding and feed formulation—tools designed to boost productivity and income.
Organized annually by stakeholders in the dairy sector with support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, the event offers a critical platform for knowledge sharing, policy dialogue, and business networking.
It also reflects Kenya’s broader agricultural development agenda, particularly under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
