Kenya and the United Kingdom have renewed their Strategic Partnership, marking a significant milestone in bilateral relations and setting the stage for deepened collaboration in trade, investment, and sustainable development.

In a high-level meeting at 10 Downing Street, London, President William Ruto held talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to a future-focused partnership grounded in mutual prosperity and shared values.

The renewed pact is expected to double bilateral trade over the next five years, unlocking new opportunities for businesses and investors from both nations.

“We have renewed the Kenya–UK Strategic Partnership, effectively setting the right tempo for more trade, investment and green growth,” stated President Ruto.

It also lays a strong foundation for green growth, recognizing the urgent need for climate action and the potential of renewable energy and sustainable agriculture.

“This pact will also advance our shared development goals in climate, ICT and regional peace and security,” added President Ruto.

The renewed agreement reflects the evolving global landscape and the need for resilient partnerships that deliver tangible results for citizens.

It includes a commitment to enhanced cooperation in the fields of education, health, digital economy, and regional stability  areas where Kenya continues to lead in Africa.

The two leaders also discussed ongoing efforts to foster peace in the Horn of Africa, strengthen counterterrorism cooperation, and support multilateral action on climate change ahead of COP29.

The revitalized Kenya–UK Strategic Partnership signals a new era of cooperation anchored in mutual respect, shared prosperity, and a greener, more peaceful world.
