The Ministry of Education marked a key milestone in the transition from secondary to higher education with the official release of the 2025 university and college placement results.
The event, held at Jogoo House B, was presided over by the Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Migos Ogamba and attended by key stakeholders from across the education sector.
According to the Education CS, the placement process, conducted by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), has successfully placed over 310,000 students into various institutions of higher learning, enhancing access to education for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) cohort.
This year’s placement exercise featured the first-ever admissions into newly established institutions, including Teacher Training Colleges, select campuses of the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), and two new universities: Nyandarua University College and Kabarnet University College.
“This year, we have witnessed the inaugural placement of students to newly established institutions, including new Teacher Training Colleges, campuses of the Kenya Medical Training College, Nyandarua University College, and Kabarnet University College,” stated CS Ogamba.
The Cabinet Secretary was joined by Principal Secretaries Dr. Beatrice Muganda Inyangala (Higher Education) and Amb. Prof. Julius Bitok (Basic Education), alongside KUCCPS leadership, underscoring the collaborative spirit that defined this year’s placement process.
According to the report:
- 80% of students who scored a C+ and above were placed into degree programmes
- 25,034 students placed into KMTC institutions
- 93,207 students placed in public TVETs
