In efforts to accelerate Kenya’s digital transformation in healthcare services, Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale has delivered 1,140 digital devices to Nakuru County to bolster the implementation of the Health Information Exchange (HIE) platform.

According to the Ministry of Health, the platform will empower Kenyans with ownership, portability and control over their personal health data.

Speaking during a high-level engagement with healthcare workers and county officials, CS Duale affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to people-centred healthcare delivery.

“He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring quality care for all Kenyans through regulation and oversight by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC), regardless of economic status,” stated MOH.

With 3,306 Community Health Promoters (CHPs) already trained, equipped, and deployed across Nakuru County, the CS emphasized their pivotal role in delivering last-mile health services and strengthening grassroots UHC delivery.

He urged all health workers to embrace the digital ecosystem, highlighting the importance of onboarding onto SHA for streamlined service delivery and reimbursement.

CS Duale also stressed the importance of transparency and integrity, warning against malpractice in the digital era.

The CS also reiterated enforcement of the bed capacity access rule and commended Nakuru for surpassing 840,000 SHA registrations, urging full onboarding of health workers to advance UHC at the grassroots.
