Treasury CS, EACC Strengthen Partnership to Combat Corruption

The cabinet secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning, Hon.John Mbadi paid a courtesy visit to the Ethics and Anticorruption Commission at the Integrity Centre.

The visit aimed to strengthen partnership between two institutions in order to safeguard the management of public finances and strengthen efforts in combating corruption.

During the meeting, Hon. Mbadi held discussions with EACC Chairperson Dr. David Oginde, Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Abdi Mohamud, and Commissioners, focusing on strategic areas of mutual interest.

Among the key issues discussed were ongoing public finance reforms aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency and accountability across government systems.

The CS outlined key reforms including the rollout of Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) aimed streamline financial operations.

“The Cabinet Secretary highlighted key reform initiatives currently underway at the National Treasury, including the rollout of Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP), adoption of Accrual Accounting, implementation of the Single Treasury Account, and strengthening of the Public Payroll System. These initiatives are designed to streamline financial operations, eliminate inefficiencies and reinforce public trust in fiscal governance,” noted the EACC.

The National Treasury boss, called for close collaboration with EACC to safeguard these reforms and intensify efforts in combating corruption across the public sector.

On his part, Dr. Oginde lauded the ongoing initiatives and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to working closely with the Treasury to ensure proper management of public resources.

He noted that such engagements are vital in aligning anti-corruption priorities with broader national reforms for maximum impact.

This visit reaffirms a shared commitment to ethical leadership, transparency and the responsible stewardship of public funds.
