The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced new fuel prices that will take effect from August 15.

In a statement released on Thursday, EPRA’s Director General Daniel Kiptoo stated that there will be a decrease in the prices for Super Petrol and Kerosene by KSh1 per litre, while the price of Diesel will remain unchanged.

In Nairobi, Super Petrol will now cost Ksh.185.31, Diesel Ksh.171.58 and Kerosene Ksh.155.58.

According to the authority, the said the prices will be effective from August 14, 2025, to September 14, 2025.

“In accordance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No.192 of 2022, the Energy & Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has calculated the maximum retail prices of petroleum products which will be in force from 15th August 2025 to 14th September 2025,” read the statement in part.

“The prices are inclusive of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020,” Kiptoo stated.

In July, Nairobi residents were paying Ksh186.31 for super petrol, Ksh171.58 for diesel, and Ksh156.58 for kerosene.

The purpose of the Petroleum Pricing Regulations is to cap the retail prices of petroleum products already in the country. This ensures that importation and other prudently incurred costs are recovered while providing reasonable prices for consumers.

“EPRA wishes to assure the public of its continued commitment to the observance of fair competition and protection of the interests of both consumers and investors in the energy and petroleum sectors,” EPRA added.
