Bastian Schweinsteiger appears to have taken the decision to stay at Manchester United despite being told by Jose Mourinho that he will have no part to play in his senior squad.
The Germany international was forced out of the first-team dressing room and has been ordered to train with the under-21 squad by the Special One. The harsh treatment was supposed to push him out of the club, giving Mourinho around £190,000-a-week in wages to play with, but it seems his tactics have not worked.
Schweinsteiger released a statement on his Twitter account on Wednesday morning that suggested he would be staying at Old Trafford, saying United would be his “last team in Europe” and that he would be “ready” to play if called upon.
In a tweet entitled: “A brief message to the amazing fans about my current situation” Schweinsteiger said: “MUFC will be my last club in Europe. I respect other clubs but Manchester United was the only one which could make me leave Bayern Munich. I will be ready, if the team needs me.
“This is all I can say about my current situation. I want to thank the fans for their amazing support over the recent weeks.”
It had been highly rumored that the midfielder was facing an exit following the arrival of the record-breaking transfer of Paul Labile Pogba who joined United following stunning £89 Million.
Some English Premier league clubs had been linked with the move for the German star, with Everton leading the race.
The speculations, which he has calmed down, escalated after Mourinho ordered Bastian to train with reserves, something that was assumed to be a move to push him out of Carrington Training Complex.
FIFpro’s Raymond Baard told Sky Sports News HQ if similar treatment happened in a different country then Mourinho could be sued.
However, Jose Mourinho was given an apology from the man who said he deserved to be locked up for the way he’s been treating Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Bastian is believed to be in the list of possible players scheduled to exit Manchester United. Mourinho is believed to be in chase fo another defender but united management told him unless he scraps off some of players with huge wage burdens there would be another signing.
Among the players whose fate hangs on the balances include Bastian and Rojo. This week, Uited confirmed exit of two defenders, Blackett to reading on permanent deal with Cameron Borthwick-Jackson on a long term loan.
Mourinho has also been advised to sell some few defendants in favour of promising Tuanzebe.
