Education CS Inaugurates New Kenyatta University Council Members

Kenyatta University today hosted Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba for the inauguration of three newly appointed Council Members, marking a significant step in strengthening governance and leadership within the institution.

According to the CS, University Councils play a vital role in providing strategic guidance and oversight, ensuring the stability and long-term performance of higher education institutions.

“We came here today to inaugurate the new council and have a conversation about the running of the University. Governance starts with the councils and the government is 100% behind them so that they can take undertake their mandate without fear or favour,” said the CS.

“University Councils provide strategic guidance and oversight to universities. They are essential in shaping the stability and performance of institutions,” he added.

The reconstituted Council of Kenyatta University will be instrumental in repositioning the University Sustainable Growth and academic excellence.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the University’s Main Campus, CS Ogamba emphasized the importance of prudent resource management and innovative resource mobilization strategies.

He urged Council Members to prioritize accountability and sustainability in steering the university toward future success.

As part of the event, the Cabinet Secretary planted a commemorative tree on campus, symbolizing Kenyatta University’s commitment to the national 15 billion tree-growing initiative and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The occasion not only ushered in renewed leadership for the university but also underscored KU’s dedication to environmental stewardship, sustainability, and the advancement of higher education in Kenya.
