The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has confirmed that an aircraft with registration number 5Y-CCA crashed early Tuesday morning while en route from Diani to Kichwa Tembo.
In a statement released by KCAA Director General Emile N. Arao, the authority reported that the aircraft had 12 persons on board when it went down at 0530Z.
Government agencies and emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene to investigate the cause of the crash and assess its impact.
“The aircraft had 12 persons on board. Government agencies are already on site to establish the cause of the accident and its impact,” read the statement.
Details regarding casualties or survivors have not yet been disclosed as investigations continue.
KCAA, which regulates and oversees aviation safety and security, economic regulation of air services and development of civil aviation, provision of air navigation services and training of aviation personnel guided by the provisions of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, related ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPS), the Kenya Civil Aviation Act, CAP 394 and the Civil Aviation Regulations.
