Two police officers yesterday were arrested in connection with the murder of a patient at the Mwingi Level 4 Hospital last week.
Frederick Ngandi, 26, was shot in his bed more than seven times at 3am in the hospital’s surgical ward as his terrified sister watched.
Earlier that night, Ngandi had survived another gun attack by persons claiming to be police officers who forced him into a white car; he sustained gunshot wounds.
If this dreadful attack should turn out to be yet another instance of extrajudicial killing by the cops, then this situation is really getting out of hand.
All the signs of rogue and killer cops are there in this dire event, including a dragging of feet, too many senior officers who have allegedly not even heard of the murder in a hospital, much less want to, and eyewitnesses who have expressed fears for their lives – in this case the victim’s brother and sister – but are receiving no police assistance.
