The whole of the world was ears alert as they waited to see clubs complete transfers of their dream players. However, some were failed but others have something to smile at. Some of the transfers that even happen had not been speculated and here is a skinny round-up of before 12:00hrs developments
Successful transfers – Innings
Chelsea
It was one of the dramatic deadline day transfer as Chelsea Foot Club gushed in and agreed a dramatic deadline-day deal to re-sign David Luiz from Paris St-Germain just hours after head coach Antonio Conte gave the green light on the Brazilian’s return.
Luiz’s move – a three-year contract – was confirmed just after 11pm.
“I’m delighted to return to Chelsea. We had a fantastic story during my first time at the club and I want to help the team and Antonio Conte achieve a lot of success,” he said.
“I always had a wonderful relationship with the fans and I am looking forward to wearing the blue shirt at Stamford Bridge once again.”
Arsenal
The move by Jack Wilshere to join Bournemouth was one among other astonishing deal. The Arsenal midfielder opted for Eddie Howe’s side over offers from Roma and Crystal Palace. The England international was last night undergoing a medical before putting pen to paper on a season-long loan deal.
Hull City
Hull City received some much-needed late reinforcements with the arrivals of Dynamo Kiev striker Dieumerci Mbokani on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal, AZ Alkmaar midfielder Markus Henriksen and Manchester United’s James Weir who reunited with former United team-mate Will Keane .
Failed Transfers
Leicester is among three clubs that failed to notch their top target. The champions wanted services of a £28 million Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani.
On the other hand Sunderland was read to spend £15 million on Lorient midfielder Didier Ndong.
The Republic of Ireland international Jeff Hendrick was due to move from Derby to Burnley for £10 million.
Milan failed with a late enquiry to take Cesc Fabregas on loan for the season, as the Spaniard would rather stay and fight for his place.
Deadline day exit
Manchester City managed to sent four players out on loan. England goalkeeper Joe Hart joined Torino, Samir Nasri went to Sevilla, Wilfried Bony arrived to Stoke City and Valencia completing a deal for Eliaquim Mangala.
