The highly awaited iPhone 7 is now in the market. Unveiled by Apple Inc, iPhone 7 has a lot of fantastic features that involves high-resolution cameras and no headphone jack.
Dual camera was not surprising at all, the biggest surprise was the debut of a three-decade-old Nintendo game franchise, Super Mario Bros, on the smartphone as Nintendo’s U.S.-listed shares jumped 29 pct on investors’ hopes that Super Mario would be another mobile gaming hit for the Japanese company akin to the wildly popular Pokemon Go.
Apple has reported declines in iPhone sales for the last 2 quarters which raised the stakes for the iPhone 7. Some consumers and analysts are considering waiting until 2017.
“Just gonna wait on iPhone 8 cuz it’s the 10th anniversary of iPhone,” Tweeted @LewBruh near the end of the event. “Ya know they gonna do something big.”
But Mike Binger, senior portfolio manager at Gradient Investments LLC in Minneapolis, said the new phone encouraged him that Apple was in good shape for a new sales cycle.
“I think the iPhone 7, just from a replacement basis, will be a successful launch,” he said.
The new phones come in two sizes, a 4.7-inch screen and a 5.5-inch “Plus” model, and feature several changes including water and dust resistance, a major upgrade to the camera with a “dual lens” system on the iPhone 7 Plus that allows for improved long-range photos, and a redesigned pressure-sensitive home button.
Apple has removed the headphone jack in favour of earbuds that connect through the phone’s charging port.
It also unveiled a set of wireless headphones called AirPods that can be purchased separately at extra cost.
The phone has stereo speakers, is water and dust resistant, has longer battery life, comes in jet black, black, gold, silver, rose gold
Other special features include A10 Fusion chip with a 64-bit four core CPU, support high storage (32GB, 128GB, 256GB)
The new camera has optical image stabilisation and a 6 element lens with f/1.8 aperture. Apple claims it’s 60% faster than previous iPhones. The iPhone 7 has a single lens camera; the 7 Plus has a dual lens camera (wide angle and telephoto).
