Joy to miraa farmers as the ban is lifted

It is a joy to miraa farmers after Somali has called off the ban that was initiated barring Kenyan flights transporting miraa to farmers.

Miraa flights from Kenya to Somalia will resume today, Wednesday, after President Uhuru Kenyatta and President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia held talks in Mogadishu.

The two presidents reached an agreement on the sidelines of the 28th IGAD Extra-Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government in the Somalia capital.

Reports indicated that the ban was placed after Meru Governor, Peter Munya, breached territorial authority and protocol by visiting Hargeisia, Somaliland without informing Mogadishu, claims Munya has since dismissed.

President Kenyatta, who is the first Kenyan Head of State to visit Mogadishu in 30 years, also secured an agreement for Kenya Commercial Bank to open an office in Mogadishu.
