It is not only Members Day in some countries, but a fantastic night to football Liverpool travel to Stamford Bridge to play Conte’s boys hoping that last week’s dominant win over Leicester can inspire them to victory at Chelsea
The pair will meet tonight, Friday, for the Premier League’s second Friday night fixture of the season, as both teams look to force their way to the top or maintain top four.
Antonio Conte’s regime has got off to an unbeaten start, with N’Golo Kante proving a shrewd signing in the centre of midfield, and on the other hand Liverpool washed Arsenal 4 against 3 goals when the two teams met.
Chelsea has injured John Terry (ankle), and Kurt Zouma (knee), with no doubts or suspended players.
Klopp, on the other hand, has Joe Gomez injured (calf) and doubts on speedy Emre Can (ankle) but no one of his players is suspended.
Liverpool continues to excite and frustrate in equal measure this season. But a 4-1 dismantling of champions Leicester City shows that Jurgen Klopp’s charges are tantalisingly close to realising his vision.
In their last five meetings, the two team drew thrice with each team winning once, and the goals per match being 2.2. Liverpool scored more goals (6) compared to Chelsea (5).
For the last 5 games, Chelsea has managed to score 12 goals while Liverpool netted 14 goals as both team drew once but Liverpool lost once to Burnley.
Klopp warns
“If other supporters love you it’s not a good sign,” Klopp said with a smile when asked if the Spain international is out of order for constantly overstepping the mark.
“What do I think of him? He’s world class, and that is the best thing football fans can say about you. He is a real warrior on the pitch.
“He uses his body all the time – that is his quality – he was nearly unstoppable against Swansea. He could have been the man of the match. He is strong, no doubt.”
Conte confirms Luiz will play
Antonio Conte confirmed David Luiz will make his first start in his second spell at the club following his £34million move from PSG.
Luiz comes in because of the injury to John Terry which has ruled the Chelsea captain out for ten days.
“John strained the ligaments of his ankle. The doctor told me, after 10 days, he can come back.
“But the player is working, working very hard. Today he had a training session to recover. Tomorrow David Luiz will play for the first time with us, and we are confident about this,” said Conte.
