Through a statement that was sent to the newsroom, Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i on Tuesday announced an extension of term for the committee investigating last term’s cases of school unrest by six weeks.
“Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i has today extended the term of the committee investigating last term’s cases of school unrest by six weeks,” read part of the statement.
According to the statement, “the extension followed a meeting with the Special Investigations Committee members at his Jogoo House office’ and it was agreed that they needed more time to analyze data collected.
“The team – led by career administrator Clare Omollo – said it needed more time to thoroughly analyse the data it had collected since it was appointed in July.
Today’s decision means a stakeholders meeting that was to be held on Friday to discuss the committees report has been put off indefinitely.” read another part of the statement.
