Joe Mutambu , the Mwingi Central Member of Parliament (MP) was heavily attacked and even burnt for joining the newly formed Jubilee Party by the Rowdy youth yesterday.
The angry members of public constructed the effigy and pinned a poster of the MP who was previously charged for allegedly squeezing genitals of a Kitui county officials which they paraded around Mwingi town while demonstrating against Mutambu’s decision.
Beating and tearing apart the figure, the crowd condemned their lawmaker for ditching Wiper Movement and even demanded for his ouster after which they set the structure on fire.
They carried placards requesting for a by-election to be held in their constituency since Mr Mutambu had seemingly quit the party through which he was elected.
“We demand for election. Joe has decamped to Jubilee and yet he was elected to the National Assembly on a Wiper ticket,” said one of the protesters.
Mr Mutambu has previously been in and out of court after he was accused of assaulting and committing an indecent act on the county official.
The recent incident is one of others in which some of the leaders from the Opposition backyard who joined Jubilee during its launch have been attacked and criticized for their move.
