Jamie Lyon, announces his retirement from National Rugby League

Manly captain Jamie Lyon will retire at the end of 2016 NRL season.Lyon, 34, ended speculation surrounding his future at Sea Eagles training on Wednesday, ahead of Saturday night’s clash with North Queensland.

Having debuted in 2000 with Parramatta, the classy centre is one of the longest-serving players in the game.He played eight Tests for Australia and 10 State of Origin matches for NSW, and also spent two seasons in the Super League with St Helens where he won the Man of Steel Award in 2005.

After walking out on Parramatta after just one game in 2004, he returned to the NRL through Manly in 2007, adding another four grand-final appearances to the one he played with the Eels, winning two titles in 2008 and 2011.

He has scored 120 tries in 285 NRL matches, and should enter the 300-game club if he remains injury-free this season.
