The government and Independent Election and Boundaries Commissions (IEBC) are expected to hold their talks today to highlight the dignified way of exit for IEBC commissioners.
Reports indicate that 200 million shillings had been set to be given to the officials with IEBC chair Isaack Hassan expected to pocket Ksh 35 and other commissioners to bank Ksh 26 million each.
The commissions, however, they did not hand over their demands as they requested to be given some moments so that they can discuss together their ‘dignified package’.
During their meeting, the commissioners denied leaving office before 4th of October unless their money is all paid in full.
The commissioners further demanded 31% allowance for every year they have served as IEBC officials. They also demand fo full salary for the remaining years.
Reports further indicate that the commissioners demand to be paid travel allowances, medical allowances and given one-year police protectionon after office exit.
On the other hand, the IEBC officials are faced with law suit from Royal Media Services for failure to remit the funds to pay for advertising service.
