Sex in campus is like taking water when thirst.

Sex is a ‘forbidden’ topic in majority of households and if I quote a nun in the Mexican Soap, Jane the virgin, as Jane brought it out, the topic was brief and to the point, “Don’t do it!’

Avoiding discussing the topic with our children and or children has become a catalyst for young children to learn it from their peers or even worse, experiment what they watch in those ‘pornographic materials or books’ they come across on daily basis.

Undeniably, the univeristy students within their degree course are having much sex than what our great parents had in their whole lifetime.  This is being done within hostels, clubs, house parties, white parties, when out on trips and even with lectures in exchange for grades.

The drive to such sex drive could have been driven by various factors, among them lack of proper sex education, peer pressure, pleasure and sex drive.

a) Poor sex education background has been the major factor towards such unruly behaviors. The parents have neglected their roles in educating their children about their body, a crucial topic that played role in grooming of the children. Sex education was highly done by grandparents, and with parents camping in town with their children, they don’t get enough time so they can share them. Parents who fear to mention ‘sex’ to their children have left that role to churches, teachers, and peer pressure.

b) Peer pressure. At campus, the students are faced with many challenges. To survive one needs to develop some friends who will remain in their support during emergency and crucial situations where parents cannot come in. These companies may turn to be harmful, especially when their realize one has not hooked, and worse for ladies who see their boyfriends shower their sweethearts with glamorous gifts.

c) Fear of missing Out (FOMO) has highly dragged girls into the sex addict. When all are mates are wearing those latest clothes and bragging about how lavishly she leaves, the girl may be tempted to hunt for sugar daddies. To cover their tracks, these people have been nicknamed ‘uncles’ and they are visited on every Friday night. With the emergence of the name sponsor, the girls are currently proudly dancing around with their ‘sponsors’.

d) The sex drive. Some of our children are sex addicts, some of it being natural but others as a result of watching pornographic materials while at their hostels. The addiction as a result of watching these erotic materials has been increasingly increasing immoral behaviors within the students.

e) Revenge after HIV Infection. It is not once nor twice students, especially women gender, have been discovered to be on a mission to infect as much as she can after receiving shocking HIV/AIDS result. “I will not die alone” mentality triggers only one thought, revenge by having sex as many as possible. Such girls on a mission will end up sleeping with as many as possible.

 f) The house parties, parties, and white parties are another ‘Koinange” points. With some parties having been branded “come virgin leave devirginized” exposed by the medias, this shades little light on how parties look like. Engraved with beer taking, others taking hard drugs like cocaine and bhang, rest assured after intoxication and drunkenness the party would be a party again, but a den of sex.

g) parents stand on their children. Some parents are too harsh on their children with others giving them little or no time at all to interact with opposite sex friends. When they land at the campus, they make sure before going back to the ‘cell’ they have quenched their thirst within those four or three months stay at the campus.

To save the situation or HIV infection among other sexually transmitted diseases, the government has been supplying free condoms within the Universities, and that tickles in your mind that it is happening. But the shock is how fast the condom dispensers run empty. When the boy “pigas mabeshte exile” ten comes to his notice that he has none within reach, he coerce the girl to have it raw, ‘body to body contact’. All this may then increase the rate of HIV/AIDS infection.

Another factor that proves that the act is high with no or less protection is the rate at which emergency pills, P-2s are quickly being bought from chemists. These young people fear pregnancy less when it is compared to HIV/AIDS.
