The ministry of Education through the office of Principal Secretary, Dr Belio Kipsang, State Department of basic education has released the 2017 calendar terms as class eight and Form four are scheduled to sit for their national examinations.
Through a letter to all county directors of education, Sub-County Directors of Education, Principals – Primary Teachers Training Colleges, Secondary School principals, Head Teachers Primary Schools, and Principals – Diploma Teachers Training College the January terms have been set to begin on 4th January.
Term 1, 2, and three for Pre-primary and Primary Schools begins at 4th January, 2nd May, and 28th August respectively with closing dates set as 7th April, 4th August, and 27th October. The third term will see the students stay in school for two months to pave way for examinations that will begin on 30th October up to 3rd November.
On the other hand, Secondary school students will be expected to report to school on 4th January, 2nd May, and 28th August for First term, second term, and third term respectively. The primary and secondary schools will also share closing dates with Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination, KCSE expected to begin on 6th November and progress all the way to 30th November.
The ministry has further directed that primary and Diploma TICs should open on 4th January, 2nd May, and 28th August with closing dates set as 7th April, 4th August and 11th November 2017 respectively.
