The latest reports on HIV and AIDS has ranked youths with the highest percentage of the HIV-virus infections.
More than 35,000 out of 77,000 new annual HIV infections are youths.
According to the report by Kenya Aids Response Progress, Youths from Homa Bay, aged between 15-24 take the lead.
Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, Nairobi, Mombasa Kiambu, and Kisii follow Homa Bay in that order in HIV infections.
Leading counties with New infections
Homa Bay county takes the lead with 5, 473 annual infections, closely followed by Kisumu with 4,996 as Siaya comes third with 4,377 cases.
Migori 2,895 reported cases make it fourth, Nairobi comes sixth with 2, 282 new infections while Mombasa emerged eighth with 1,283 cases.
HIV-AIDS Mortality
The report further indicated that, 3,850 cases of death related to youths were reported, comprising 115 of such deaths in 2015.
“The young people should be taught to ask for relevant information as well as be made aware of testing centers and there is need for more sex education awareness among them,” said National Aids Control Council Director, Nduku Kilonzo.
