Magufuli wraps up state visit to Kenya

President John Pombe Joseph Magufuli travelled back to Tanzania this afternoon after wrapping up his two-day state visit to Kenya.

The Plane carrying the Tanzanian leader departed Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 4:00 pm. At the airport, President Magufuli was seen off by his host President Kenyatta and other senior government officials.

During his tour, the Tanzanian leader agreed with his host President Uhuru Kenyatta to revive the Kenya-Tanzania Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC) before year’s end to enhance investment and trade.

The two leaders agreed that the next meeting – that will pave the way for close cooperation in areas of mutual benefit to the two countries –be held in Dar-Es-Salam at a date to be set by Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohamed and her Tanzanian counterpart Augustine Mahiga.

Earlier today, the two leaders launched the 28.6 Km Ngong Road/Lenana interchange which was constructed at a cost of Ksh 18.8 billion.

President Kenyatta and his Tanzanian counterpart said the Southern By-pass will not only decongest the city of Nairobi but also boost economic activity within the East African region.
