While speaking in Borabu, Nyamira County, the Orange Democratic Movement Chairperson on Sunday called upon government to stop the controversialist water projects construction.
The CORD leader said that these projects have negative impacts on the environment.
One of the dangers, according to Raila, is the possibility of adverse climate changes and hunger.
Raila noted that Gusii region could be adversely affected if the controversial Itare Dam project is not stopped.
Raila added that the rivers (Yurith, Sise, Kipsonoi, Itare Ndoinet, Timbilil, Chemosir, Itare Kiptiget, Itare Chemosit, Diony Soet, Kipchorian, Songol and Jamju) will be diverted by the project.
The Cord co-principal further noted that this will eventually turn eight surrounding counties into deserts.
