Blessing and Favor meet for the first time, 13 days after 23hr surgery

Kenya registered herself in SubSaharan medical history books as the first country to carry out successfully conjoined twins operations following the separation of the two twins who shared some parts of body organs.

The separation of the twins, Favour and Blessing, a week ago took place at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH)

A team of 60 specialists from the Kenyatta National Hospital and the University of Nairobi’s School of Health Sciences came together to carry out the surgery.

The surgery took 23 hours after which the two were admitted at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on 2 November.

Yesterday, the twins got a chance to see each other face-to-face for the first time since the delicate surgery  after they were transferred from ICU.

They  are now recuperating at the KNH’s Pediatric Surgery Ward.

Doctors said Favor and Blessing will soon leave the hospital, but only after they gather enough strength.
